Reading is important!

Funny how things happen in cycles. Up until 7th grade I didn't have glasses I couldn't see far away. I probably needed them before then. Then in my late twenties I got lasic done and suddenly I didn't need glasses/contacts anymore. Suddenly at age 41, and it was sudden I couldn't read ingredient on some boxes, couldn't see the brooch clasp as I tried to pin it on my coat collar. Reading any type of book suddenly became tiring. And so with grace (inside grumping and complaints) I went to the eye doctor and confirmed I needed eye glasses for close up.

Fine glasses to me really shows a person own style. Rarely does one go out and buy glasses with frames that make them look completely silly and retarded (exception Edna Dame, Carrie Donovan). Yes some people buy into the latest shape trend but they still pick out their own color.

And so without further ado my modern/classic reading glasses. Oh and yes it has little rhinestones along the side so there the jewelry part.

What I'm Wearing Wednesday

What you are looking at is my small collection of Rutilated Quartz. The necklace was the first piece I got and I always thought it was pretty with the gold bars in it. The rings followed sometime later.

Rutilated quartz is found in Australia, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Norway, Pakistan and the United States.

It's a good thing I don't have to travel abroad to get these! Here another couple of interesting facts about this stone.

Rutilated quartz has been referred to as Cupid's darts, Venus hair stone and Fleches d'amour.

Folklore: Rutilated quartz is said to slow down the aging process and is said to be a strong healer.

Slow down the aging process. Well if that's the case perhaps I'll wear these more often. Plus I've started back at the gym perhaps it can help heal my sore muscles too!

What I'm Wearing Wednesday

Yey more sparkles! I got this necklace from ebay, it is vintage and by Coro. I choose black because I wear allot of black. Probably a left over of my Goth days in the 80's. But this necklace has lots of confetti in green and pink hues. So I get a little bit of color mixed in. Having just got back from camping in the desert I'm feeling pretty relaxed, my not so thrilled look is having to work on a multi tab excel form that I've been working on for several days.

What I'm Wearing Wednesday

These are modern red glass swirled bulbs. I loved the crimson color.

A friend commented it reminded her of glass lamps from the 70's doing a quick search finding Murano glass lamps from the 50's and 60's perhaps they created them in the 70's but I'm thinking more along the lines that people do not replace their lamps very often. As a kid these may have well been in your home in the 70's or a different color.

For a bit of a modern remake I found the following lamps at Niche Modern
