Enameling

So I have started my enameling class and love it. I was a bit ambitious for my very first project but I learned allot.
Below is images of my first piece. You'll see the original copper piece. We were learning how to layer solid colors. The front is a dark teal blue , the back is speckled and last you have my final design. I got carried away and finished it before I realized I needed to take pictures.

As you know I like Renoir Matisse copper enameled jewelry. Here is another type of enameled piece from Vintage Trifari. notice the metal edge around it, allot of enamel jewelry has that edge to help protect the enamel from chipping.

What I'm Wearing Wednesday

It's a bit gloomy here weather wise so I thought to sparkle things up a bit.

I don't know if this pin is vintage as there is no markings and I bought it at a thrift store. But I like it.

What I'm Wearing Wednesday

Pools of Light.

Another necklace of my Grandmothers I only wear this in spring or summer when it's sunny. These are crystal orbs wrapped with sterling silver. How can you tell real from fake. Here's an interesting fact for you.

You Just need a newspaper… and an orb of quartz…
Set the orb on the paper… get out your reading glasses if you are as old as I am and look at the print… Real Quartz will make the type appear up side down. Glass fails miserably as well as drilled quartz .. The Real thing is not drilled and not glass….

Now I'm not sure why drilled wouldn't appear upside down maybe because it not a true circle??? I'm not about to drill one of these puppies to find out though. :)

What I'm Wearing Wednesday

I took a much needed break as allot is going on. I've started my enameling class currently workong a dish but soon hope to do a pendant, and love it!

I'm also going to subject myself to braces. Invilalign however I will have extra hardware a bite plate tab or something for my upper teeth and brackets on the back molars for bands. It's going to be a long and interesting journey.

In the meantime I feel very summery today in my blue top and grabbed a modern seed bead bracelet I thought would match, well it sorta matches I suppose.
