What I'm Wearing Wednesday

I was looking for a really cool atomic brooch when I came across this vintage brooch on Ebay. The little rhinestones in the center move slightly.

Grey can be good

The weather is being fickle or perhaps we are hitting June Gloom early. After a nice sunny weekend, we get instead gloomy, overcast drizzle. So throwing on my grey sweater and pulling my hair up. Earrings are a must. I picked out a pair of snowflake obsidian earrings.

These I bought from a vendor I simply do not remember where. Hand crafted earrings should never be overlooked. Well for that matter Handcrafted jewelry should not be overlooked. Go to Etsy sometime you find an abundance of talent and many wonderful handcrafted jewelry pieces.

What I'm wearing Wednesday

Today I went for a simple bracelet with a bit of a geometric design.

Having tiny wrists, it very difficult for me to find and wear bracelets. Most bangles are out as they tend to fall right off. So it needs to be a hinged or a cuff type of bracelet. Though there are some vintage clasp bracelets I can wear.

Again here is my love of copper. This bracelet I got at the Pasadena swap meet.

Sometimes Sparkles

I don’t know about you but some days are just so hard to get out of bed. Especially when you live in sunny California and it’s not sunny out. This morning I woke up to a cool gloomy morning. As I sat thinking of this coming weeks to-do list, my eyes landed on a vintage necklace that seemed perfect. A thermoset aqua glitter necklace.

The confetti glitter in the thermoset gives enough sparkle to brighten anyone's day it certainly does mine. The blues reminding me that there is blue sky out there. And oh look! Is that the sun peeking through clouds.

I bought this at a local swap meet. At that moment my love of vintage copper jewelry was born.

Here’s a Statement for you

Lately I have been seeing advertisements about statement necklaces to compliment your outfit. Big, bright and bold necklaces they dazzle your eyes and yes my fingers itched to snatch them all up. Buying into the current fashions, a black and white stripe top, I was stuck with what do I wear for a necklace? Bright and bold! Off I went to find the perfect necklace. What I found was not what I expected.

Recovering from some dental surgery two days previous my lower left jaw was quite swollen. My Jaw line… well I had none, and my spirit felt pummeled. Even worse I was not finding that perfect necklace. But I was not to be defeated. I found my statement piece that fit not just the top but my mood. I gave up trying not to smile, because it hurt to smile, as I made my purchase.
I pledged to myself, like this necklace I would heal, to be positive and to soar above what ails you.
